Check the Color and Smell
Fresh coffee has a rich, deep color and a full-bodied aroma that hits your nose the moment it’s poured. If the coffee in your mug looks watery or has a flat, slightly burnt smell, chances are it’s been sitting on the burner for too long. A bitter or sour aroma can also be a sign that the coffee is past its prime. Ask if there’s a fresh pot being brewed and wait for the good stuff.
Ask When It Was Brewed
It’s okay, we won’t be offended! We’re proud of our coffee, and we want to ensure you enjoy it at its best every time you visit us. Ask your server when we made the last pot. We do our best not to let the coffee sit for more than thirty minutes, an hour at most. Our servers will also let you know if there’s a fresh pot brewing, if you’d rather wait for it.
Watch the Coffee Station
Keep an eye on the coffee station and notice how long it sits on the warmer without moving. Coffee starts to get a burnt taste if it sits on the burner for more than thirty minutes straight. When it comes to coffee-freshness, it pays to be vigilant!
Take the Taste Test
Honestly, it all comes down to taste. We can check all the other boxes, but it only matters if the coffee has a bold, smooth flavor. We’re confident that every sip of our coffee will pass the taste test, but you’ll have to judge for yourself.
